Travel north along Belfast Lough to  Carrickfergus Castle, one of the best preserved  medieval structures in Northern Ireland. It was built in 1177 by John de Courcy as his headquarters, and was besieged in turn by the Scottish, Irish, English and French. The Castle is well preserved with great views from the ramparts. Take a guided tour to learn more about the amazing history of this historic site and region

Amazing Views

Driving up the magnificent coast road we pass through Ballygally to Glenarm, nestled at the foot of Glenarm Glen. The first of the 9  Glens of Antrim. The Georgian streets of this village boast well preserved architecture and a rich heritage. 

After Glenarm we come to  Cushendall, where we can visit Glenariff Forest Park and enjoy a walk through mature woodland along the edges of steep sided gorges with waterfalls.

Driving north we take the narrow winding road with the most beautiful views from  Torr Head, with its views to Scotland on a clear Day ( only 17 miles).


Head north to Ballycastle, home of the Auld Lammas Fair. Here you can board a ferry to Rathlin, and find Bruce's Cave  where Robert The Bruce is said to have had his legendary  encounter with the spider. The Atlantic Puffins, Razor-bills, Guillemots and Kittiwakes  also make it a bird watchers paradise. The ancient beach of Whitepark Bay is further north and forms a long white arch between two headlands. It is backed by dunes and grasslands, which are covered with rare plants and orchids. The picturesque Portbradden lies at its northern tip. 

Option-  The Mussenden Temple, where you can visit this 18th century demesne, with its temple perched high on the cliffs overlooking Downhill Strand,the Atlantic Ocean and County Donegal. One of the most photographed scenes in Northern Ireland

Or- Portstewart Strand , an iconic 2 mile area of outstanding beauty, perfect for all types of water sports or just having a walk and relaxing.
